For us, “The art of sitting” means combining healthy sitting with a strong design aesthetic – responsibly. Every time we develop a new product, our goal is to reduce the percentage of new resources to the essential and to use as much high-grade recycled material as possible. Quality and a long lifespan are our priorities, coupled with a strong sense of timeless design.

since 1935

A regional success story that started with a feisty young woman and has developed into a blend of sustainability, innovation and aesthetics that continues today. Our inspiration – then as now – is the character and landscape in our native Lake Constance region, as well as the mission of reimagining the “art of sitting” to create a homely atmosphere.

MARGARETE‘S GREAT HERITAGE

Margarete Klöber, a young foreign language correspondent at the time, recognized the need for healthy sitting in the mid-1930s. The then 25-year-old woman founded the "health chair factory" and pushed forward her idea of ergonomic seating furniture: with clever marketing, an understanding of sales - and the "Polstergleich" office chair. Thank you Margarete!

Since 1999, Klöber has been part of Sedus Stoll AG, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of office solutions. In its 150-year history, this traditional company has repeatedly set new standards - in ergonomics, manufacturing processes and sustainability.

QUALITY MADE SUSTAINABLE

We invest in certified materials and process them with maximum economy of resources. We love our region and nature, so we ensure that production is energy-efficient – as well as running comprehensive quality checks. Our suppliers are the foundation of responsible sourcing.

"Sustainability isn't a mega trend for us, it's just how we rock!"

WE DON´T BELIEVE IN OUTSOURCING

The entire production cycle – prototype build, tool build, fabric cutting, sewing, upholstery and assembly – is all done in-house and follows stringent quality guidelines. From the designer’s initial idea and throughout manufacturing, up to the point at which they are ready to ship – we leave nothing to chance during this entire process, and only then does the finished product leave our factory
in Owingen.

People with disabilities of course find a place among us. As an integrative company, Klöber specialises in creating attractive jobs for a wide range of needs. Caring is also the drive behind Sedus Stoll AG, to which Klöber belongs. Its majority shareholders are the Stoll VITA Foundation and the Karl Bröcker Foundation. Both pursue charitable, philanthropic causes and shape values that are reflected in Klöber‘s products.

It is simply fun to work and feel good in this attractive mix of ambience. Motivation comes naturally here. Our surroundings also underline our self-image of nature and the type of production - made on Lake Constance.
