Oeko-Tex goes beyond the mandatory requirements and applies stricter standards than similar labels in the health area.

The requirements centre on levels of chemical substances which may cause skin irritations, allergies, cancer or harm the nervous system, internal organs or fertility or which are suspected of causing such problems. The requirements are updated on an ongoing basis in line with the latest developments in the fields of medical research and textile production.
