Connex2 from Klöber: its fresh looks and innovative character convinced the jury from iF International Forum Design GmbH.

Owingen, February 2018 The Connex2 task chair made by Owingen seating manufacturer Klöber received the iF DESIGN AWARD 2018 in the Office category. This successful model won over the 63 expert jury members from iF International Forum Design GmbH – the world’s oldest independent design institute.

Ergonomics, functionality and aesthetics: these are the characteristics of Connex2, which impressed the jury with its fresh appearance and innovative character.

Excellent design for ergonomic sitting

Jörg Bernauer, the resident designer at Klöber, is responsible for the Connex2 design. With the craftsmanship you would expect from a Klöber, the chair stands out particularly for its clarity of design. One distinctive characteristic is the central aluminium element: “It forms a visual link that ties the back and armrest in with the rest of the chair, like a belt. The overall impression is reminiscent of the ring armrest archetype. Incorporation of this design feature into the adjustment functions is an especially attractive touch”, reiterates Jörg Bernauer. The armrests are an integral part and therefore an effective eye-catcher that adds value. At the same time they offer outstanding comfort, because the sitter’s arms always maintain contact with the armrest wraps when reclining. This constant contact with the seat and backrest is made possible by the point-synchro mechanism, which has been developed especially by Klöber. The three-dimensional seat flexibility encourages the sitter to be mobile and supports dynamic lateral left-right movement.
