As a result Rodolphe Carle, a Frenchman who joined forces with his brother Edouard to set up their first privately-owned child day-care facilities in 2003, is able to look back on a healthy growth: his company, named Babilou, now encompasses 600 day-care facilities and crèches – in France and further afield. Other locations include Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg, as well as Dubai, Argentina and India. 32 of them are in Munich and the surrounding area. As a global provider of childcare, Babilou operates on the basis of broadly-defined approaches to childcare: the French nursery concept is not applied to the facilities in every country. Instead, the services offered take the local cultural and social needs into consideration.

Babilou is managed centrally from the company headquarters in Paris. A new building accommodates several hundred employees and provides them with a particularly attractive workplace – created by the Tétris design office, Paris: swing chairs, bistro tables, table football and speaker podiums are all featured in the office outfitting, enabling their working day to be quite unique. The well-lit rooms contain a range of wooden items and plants for a natural look that supports the sustainable principles of the overall concept.
