Review and outlook
Company celebrations, the Moteo Klimastuhl and branding communications for 2018
With the New Year well under way, we are in a position to look back at an exciting and successful 2017 here at Klöber. This was my first year at Klöber – that’s reason enough to recollect everything we’ve experienced and achieved.
Klöber: a company with a vision
When I became a senior director here, my initial experiences confirmed that Klöber is a company with a huge capacity for innovation and motivation. As a premium manufacturer of innovative seating solutions, our organisation benefits from decades of expertise on the part of both employees and dealers. Of course that doesn’t go unrewarded: the Lake Constance Challenge, which we organised for our dealers all over Germany, was a fantastic event for everyone involved. The Klöber barbecue was characterised by a real party atmosphere amongst colleagues, reflecting the unique team feeling at Klöber.
On a day-to-day basis, we are especially concerned with changes in the workplace and the office design associated with that: New Office, coworking, digitisation and the rise of the smart office call for intelligent and creative concepts more than ever before.
2017: New products from Klöber
In 2017 we launched new products on the market that scored highly with regard to Workplace Design 4.0 (as well as in other areas):
The market launch of the Moteo Klimastuhl with advanced climate technology was my personal highlight. The impressive features are perfect for management and executive offices. The Klimastuhl adapts to the personal needs of its user in the same way as a car seat. As the temperature is transferred directly to the body, having the heating and ventilation function in the office chair is much more efficient than controlling the room temperature. This consideration also convinced the government of the Netherlands. They are currently testing 13 Mera Klimastuhl chairs in a pilot project.
Further premium sector launches followed: The Connex2 product range now boasts two more stylish high-back models. The introduction of the Connex2 high-back conference swivel chair and the Connex2 high-back was a further milestone for Klöber. And incidentally, that was the subject of my first blog post.
We were especially thrilled when Connex2 received the German Design Award 2018 as a “Winner” in the Office Furniture category for particularly good product design. According to the jury, Connex2 is “extremely comfortable with an outstanding design that convinced everyone” – of course the credit for this goes to our in-house designer, Jörg Bernauer, who is responsible for the Connex2 look. (By the way, Connex2 has recently won the IF Design Award 2018 as well.)
Jörg was also responsible for the timelessly elegant design of the Tasso 2.0 upholstered seating group that was launched in Spring last year. Tasso 2.0 consists of
two sofas, an armchair and matching side table. With regard to workplace design and Work 4.0, Tasso 2.0 is ideal for the needs of diverse situations such as waiting areas, communication or relaxation.
2018: New Year, new challenges, new branding
I’d like to begin the New Year by quoting Antoine de Saint-Exupery: “As for the future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it.” – and I have taken it upon myself to do exactly that. Although 2018 will pose a few challenges for us, we’re in a strong position to face the future. The thing is, there will always be a demand for creative and intelligent seating solutions! And we have plenty planned: Orgatec is on this year, and we have new products waiting to be launched. We start 2018 with the optimised Mera task chair. A facelift has improved its function as well as appearance. In addition, Mera can now be supplied with a 3D mesh back – of course, this also goes for the climate model, too.
The next steps for 2018 are strategic and visual: the branding is being modernised and sharpened to reflect Klöber’s innovative character better. You might say we’re bringing a breath of fresh air into the office chair industry.
Of course we still aim to create unique sitting experiences with our popular high-end solutions. In this spirit I wish Klöber and all of us a good, successful year in 2018!
