The Klöber Klimastuhl tour of Germany
There has been plenty going on at Klöber recently! Over the past few weeks we’ve been touring Germany with our innovative product highlight, the Klöber Klimastuhl with our goal to showcase the Klimastuhl as a world first by allowing people to experience it first-hand.
We’ve received an amazing amount of interest in the Klöber Klimastuhl – so it was the perfect opportunity to introduce this unique product at our dealers’ premises as part of our “Klimastuhl Event”.
Focusing on the Klimastuhl
When a new product causes such a stir, the logical response is to present it to the public in person. So Brian Boyd, CEO at Klöber GmbH, attended the various Klimastuhl Events in person to show everyone the story of the Klimastuhl’s development. What many of the guests didn’t know was that we actually presented a prototype of the Klimastuhl two years ago at Orgatec – the most important trade fair in our industry, which is held every two years in Cologne. Even then the innovative idea of adapting the principle of heating and ventilation as used in car seats for an ergonomic office chair attracted a great deal of interest, so it was quickly decided that we would continue with research and development.
Klimastuhl – the research
Research and development for the Klimastuhl end product was not just done in-house, we requested help from the field of science for this very special project. So we were particularly delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Hoffmann as a guest speaker at selected Klimastuhl Events. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hoffmann and Prof. Dengel are co-directors of the “Living Lab smart office space” at Kaiserslautern University of Technology. This represents an actual working area configured in the “open space” format – but at the same time serves as an experimentation zone for very diverse research approaches and technology developments. One of these new technology developments is our Klöber Klimastuhl: for several months it has been a permanent element of a scientific study, and is being put through its paces in the Living Lab. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hoffmann spoke about the physical phenomena, thermal comfort and effects on productivity in the workplace at our Klimastuhl Events.
The Klimastuhl in detail
Christian Roth-Schuler, head of design and development at Klöber, gave another Klimastuhl presentation, this time from a technical perspective. He went into detail and explained each function. For example the audience learnt that we not only took inspiration from the heating and ventilation in a car seat, we also collaborated closely with market leaders in the automotive industry. This cooperation with experts has allowed us to achieve the best result for our customers.
Trying out the Klimastuhl
After the exciting presentations, the dealer introduced the less formal part of the evening. Cold drinks and a tasty buffet were provided in a relaxed atmosphere, giving guests the perfect opportunity to chat, ask questions and – above all – experience the benefits of the Klimastuhl for themselves. Everyone who sat down and tried out the functions was impressed: they could choose whether to ventilate the seat and backrest or heat them up to body temperature (37°) at the touch of a button. It was absolutely straightforward to operate – all the event guests agreed on this aspect. So our mission to provide a hands-on Klimastuhl experience has been completed successfully.
